Hanover Schools
Five public school districts cover the greater Hanover area, including Hanover Public, South Western, Conewago Valley, Littlestown and Spring Grove. In addition to the public school districts, a Catholic high school and five area parochial schools educate approximately 1,800 students. Business and Industry
The visionaries who settled Hanover in the 1700s brought with them a good work ethic and a commitment to providing an honest day's labor in exchange for fair wages. That ethic is still a strong part of the Hanover character and has helped identify the area as a great place to do business. Hanover's strategic location along with a loyal and stable workforce, has turned some previously small firms into healthy competitors in the global marketplace. Products and services produced in the Hanover area include snack foods, canned and frozen foods, paper, power steering gears, welding supplies, wire cloth and machinery for many other manufacturing processes.

Shopping
Hanover enjoys its designation as a regional shopping hub, ranking as the fifth largest retail area in the state in the 1992 Census of Retail Trade. The center for most of the retail trade lies north of town along Eisenhower Drive, locally known as the "Golden Mile." The first Super K in eastern Pennsylvania and one of the area's largest Wal-Mart stores anchor the shopping centers on either side of this retail highway. Both stores are open 24 hours a day, as is the Giant food store located near Wal-Mart. A gigantic Lowe's home improvement center and a large, nationally known department store are two of the newer additons to the shopping area in that end of town.

Six miles north of the Mason-Dixon line and thirty-seven miles south of Harrisburg, Hanover is nestled in a picturesque valley. Surrounded by rich farmland, and accented by a 1,275-acre man-made lake, Hanover provides an ideal location for family life, agriculture, shopping and industry. The feeling of a small town, combined with a wide array of benfits typically attributed to a larger city, brings Hanover residents the best of both worlds.
